LIQUOR CAMOUFLAGE
To the Editor. Sir, —To-day I received a circular from the liquor party's Moderate League asking for monetary and other assistance to bolster up their cause. I find ne fault with the genuine supporter of this party, as he is divided into two classes, namely, the man or woman financially interested, and the man and woman who likes the liquor itself. But, Sir. the Moderate Party and the power behind are beginning a "camouflage" campaign This sort of 'warfare is peculiar to the Germans and some others. Listen to this: "We do not want you to vote prohibition, as it will cost the country four and a-half millions, not one penny more, t.he law says, and we cannot afl'ord the 1039 of revenue." Yet, and this is the I'camoll- -" —they want you to vote Continuance now and Plate Control next time, so that the trade and their champions, the Moderate League, can sell odt to the Statu for anything estimated from 1G to 21 millions of money. They toll you next time it is Prohibition without compensation. Too true, but never mention the millions they are after, if they can gat the people to vote State Control. Anyhow, use your own judgment. which is best—straight out Prohibition at a cost of under four millions or Statu Control for anything up to 21 millions? I'll tell you some experience the Stratford Hospital Board Bad on i-he revenue question some day In the meantime, "beware of the Moderate League. They are financially interested, or they like it.-—I am, etc., 0. V/ SOLE. Stratford, 10 th Jan.
