I On January C, at Kohuratahi there was a good yarding of tattle and a fair j penning of sheep. Cattla were all quittod on a pair with rul ; ng values. Sheep, mostly hoggets, showed a slight hardening in values. On Tuesday at Stratford yards we had a full yarding of cattle, three-quar-ters of which were quitted under the hammer, and the balance immediately attcrwnrds at satisfactory values. Yearling heifers realised £3 lCs Gd, 18-month heifers £4 Is to £4 19s, 2-year heifers £0 5s to £7 12s Cd, springing heifers £S 10s, £9 os and £l2, IS-montn steers £4 14s, 24-year steers £B, store cows £5 9s (id to £S lGs, fat cows £lO lis to £l3 2s Cd, dairv cows £lO 5s to £ll 10s, bulls £4 to £l3 17s Cd. At Matan on Friday cattle made ruling market values. The sheep were of good wool class but of medium siz/v The market for sheep was slightly in favor of purchasers. Eighteen-month realised £4 5s to £4 17a, empty heifers £O, 15-month sters £5 2s Cd, cows with calves £7 15s, store cows £fi 18s Cd to £l2 9s, forward cows £S 12s 6d, fa± cows £S IC3 Cd, 2-tooth. mixed wethers 23s Id to 21s 6d, 2-tooth wethers 23s to 255, store ewes 20s.
Owing to farmers yarding nearly all stock for sale just now while the roads are good and sales satisfactory, we are encouraging buyers to attend our regular sales, and through the recent satisfactory results there is little business in the paddock. The following, however, are some of our sales:—2-vear empty heifers £7 10s, 18-month heifers £5 to £5 10s, 2-year steers £7 15s dairy cows £l3 3s, 3-year steers £S Ids to £ll, /earling heifers (small) £4 10a, dry shorn ewes 21s, wether hogjro&s 2Cs Cd, woolly hoggets 30s, woolly wefters 395, woolly ewes and lambs 395.
