Eec«iswl Jan. 15, 7.30 p.m. London, Jan, 13. The big programme of airship construction by tho Admiralty includes airships with a gas capacity of ?,i million •cubic feet, with a range of 8000 miles and a spetMl of 60 to 70 miles per hour, and a lifting capacity of sixty tons, to carry a crew of 25.
The first of these will be launched towards tho end nf the year. It is stated tbii they ara primarily built for sea patrol and observation work and will iLe stationed on tho coo£t. —Reutet
A cable to the Sydney Sun recently stated: A commercial airship has been planned, to be ll'lOft. long and to have a range of 20,000 mike. She will ibe able to cruise for 16 days without descending, at a maximum speed of Do miles per hour. This gigantic airship will carry 200 tons, ineluij to of passengers and goods, and will fly comfortably and in absolute safety at an altitude of 1000 feet I Eound the world trips are assured. She quadruples tho capacity of the largest zeppelin. ' , Another airship which is building is ,700 ft. long, with a range of 9400 miles and a speed of 71 miles per hour, and will carry 50 tons. An expert says that 100 miles per hour commercial speed airships are now easily attainable.
