Ths German armistice delegate, General Winterfteld, has notified the En-' tento representatives at Spa that (Jcr-1 many is resolved loyally to perform her undertaking for tlie restoration of the machinery attracted from the occupied territory as part o£ the undertaking to repair material losses, but declines to undertake a detailed gottlemout which would "anticipate the peace treaty, the conclusion of which Germany has repeatedly urged." The German Government, commenting by wireless on Winteriield's Note, gives the statistics available of the restora'ble equipment, and adds that a refusal must ibe made in all circumstances to the demand that Germany must replace machines by others essential to German industry, because such a step would inaugurate an ecomonic war, which is deprecated by 7?reaideat Wilson.—Heater.
HEW CONDITIONS KEGESSAES.
Paris, Jan. 13.
Marshal Foch, at the Supreme War Council, reported that 23,000 prisoners were still due.' Germany had delivered 19G7 locomotives out of 5000. The Council therefore decided that a prolongation of tho armistice would only be accorded on new conditions and that tho reviccualling of Germany will be undertaken in return for the acfertarce of new conditions.—Aus.-N.Z-Ciible Afco
The conference decided that Germany shall convey the Deutsche Bank's fold reserve to Frankfurt. It also decided that all unsurrendered submarines must be destroyed.—Aus,-N .Z. Cable Assn.
A SETTLEMENT REACHED.
London, Jan. 14.
The Supreme War Council this afternoon reached a settlement regaruing the terms whereon the armistice will be renewed, including questions connected with the treatment of German shipping, the surrender of submarines hitherto under construction or repair, the completion of the transfer of railway and transportation material, and thfc restoration of machinery taken from Allied territories.
