FORGERY AND UTTERING. By Ttlejiipl!.—Press Association. Palmers ton N., Jail. 14. At the Magistrate's Court, a young man named Sydney Mexted pleaded guilty to charges of forging and uttering cheques, and was remanded to the Supreme Court, Wellington, for sentence. Accused was also remanded to appear at Wellington on a further charge of forging a cheque at Petone.
BIG COMMERCIAL TRANSACTION Bannevirkc, Jan. 14. The moat important commercial transaction in the history of southern Hawke's Bay was completed yesterday when t)ic old-established business of the Dannevirke Co-operative Association was amalgamated with the Karmers' Co-operative Association. In future fhe business will be carried on in a new building which is being erected in the fire-swept area, which, wheii completed, will be the biggest departmental store in Hawke's Bay The amount involved in the transaction is approximately £90,000
