It decided that a Workers' Industrial Union of Australia be formed and that unions, be classified in six departments, each consisting of as many divisions as may be necessary to meet industrial requirements. A special Cabinet meeting discussed the recent returned soldiers' deputation's request for preference in employment, and decided to amend the Industrial Act to provide this wherever practicable.
