_ London, Jan. 12. «Ie Daily Express Berlin correefxmdent, tafegraphing on Friday, reported tint a fierce attack at dawn with hand grenades against the Eeichstag tuilding foiled. The recent fitting was more severe than in Petrograd. The casualties aro estimated at a thousand. Parts of the capita! are without water and light. The heaviest fighting occurred during the recapture 'of the Tageblatt office. Herr Hosse, tha proprietor, refused permission to u?c artillery against the building, therefore the Government troops attacked with machine-guns, to which the Spartacusans replied. The trops thereupon brought up a tank and smashed m the doors, fhs building was only captured after a strenuous light, in which the armored car storming grenade party participated. Several hundred Spartaohts were killed when the Government captured the Sileaian railway station. There are conflicting accounts about Lieoknecht. Some say he was shot ' dead. Others that he escaped. The Spartacists reproach independent Socialists with their weakness in requesting negotiations. The Spartacists demand fresh elections for the Central Council, excluding the majority oocialists, and fresh Soviet elections beforo abandoning their programme of violence. STARTACUSERS' iTEW TACTICS Received Jan. 14, 1.25 p.m. Berlin, Jan. 10 The Government gained mastery of the situation on Friday, holding the police headquarters, also from the Brandenburg Gate to Fried rich Strasse. There was spapmodic lighting in other parts of the city. The Spartacusers' new tactics oi cutting off the water gas, and electricity created a panic throughout Berlin, especially as there was no bread. Radek, the real leader, is Dr Licbiinecht's principal adviser. He is endeavoring to create & famine, such as Bolshevism thrived under in Russia.
