PROPOSED EXTINCTION OP EQUCA- ' TION BOARDS.

Wellington, Jan. 13. _ The Educational Institute to-day cou< tinued discussion of the motion by Mr. Just favoring the substitution of a national board of experts education boards to control the professional side of education, with local education authorities administering undir the guidance of the national body. Mr. Lippiatt (Auckland) moved an amendment in favor of a council 'of education, with executive powers, and four education boards for admin tion. The powers of boards should to further curtailed if necessary. The amendment was rejected by 45 votes to IS.
Wellington, Last Night. ' The New Zealand Educational Institute carried a motion to-day as follows: —There should be appointed a National Board of Education in lien of the pfeesent nine education boards
It was also resolved that the fractions of tho National Education Bond foe to advise Parliament, to promulgate the curricula, to supervise the woti of education and voluntary committees, to provide and control the teaching staff, to establish, close, or group schools as mftv be deemed necessary, and .generally to direct the educational functions of tha nation.
