DRIFTING MINEFIELDS. OFF DENMARK AND SWEDEN. NORTH SEA FULL OF MEES. Received Jan. 0, 8.50 p.m. London, Jon. 8. Stockholm reports state that an entire minefield appears to he adrift off the south coa3t of Sweden. Twenty exploded off the Danish coast. Fishermen report tha,t the North Sea is filled with on enormous number of small drifting mines of hitherto unknown construction.—Reuter.
DISAFFECTED MINESWEEPERS TROUBLE PARTIALLY SETTLED. Received Jon. 10, 1.30 a.m. London, Jan. 8. The discontent among the erews of the mine-sweepers reached a climax on Friday, when some refuted to put to sea, declaring that the remuneration was utterly inadequate, in view of the risks involved ajid the Kg profits mado by the trawlers from- which the craws were largely drawn. The authorities temporarily settled the dispute !jj offering a bonna of forty shillings weekly, but some of the crews are still dissatisfied-—Ana. N.Z. Cable Assoc.
