SEVERE HEAT WAVE.
BROUGHT IN AUSTRALIA,
Sydney, Jan. 7.
A long spell ot dry weather, augmented by great heat during the past fortnight, is telling severely in manj parts of the Commonwealth and causing anxiety about feed and water. The scarcity of these is pressing hard on agriculturists and stock-owners. Some towns are suffering from water famine and bush fires, and rabbits which have boon driven out of the back country are causing -widespread damage. Melbourne, Jan. 7.
