RECEPTION AT WELLINGTON;

The 'Frfench Mission had a great reception in the Town Hall, which was i crowded. The Mayor and Sir James Allen welcomed tlie visitor*. Captain Barclay spoke in French on behalf of the French-speaking citizen*. General Pau was cheered to the echo on rising, and spoke in Reeling terms of the warmth of the reception he had received everywhere. Hs said that, though now too old to serve actively, it was a gTeat comfort to him to remember that he had assisted in training soma of tile great French soldiers of to-day, and that they were his personal friends. General Pan spoke amazingly of tho New Zealand sol3lers, and said th« French people loved them for their kindness to the poor people in the invaded departments. Be had often heanl from them how good the New Zealand soldiers had been to them.
The Mission was busy today with official visits and conferences with leading men.
