A terrific thunderstorm, lasting for 20 ' minutes, accompanied by a high wind and" deluge of ram, with monster hailstones, on Saturday afternoon, did great damage to the city and suburbs, particularly the eastern suburbs. Windows and skylights were smashed in wholesale fashion, and roofs wero lifted.

Water spoiled large quantities of sto&k in shops and warehouses. Many sailing boats capsized in the harbor.
