THE RACES.
On Boxing Day the Taranaki Jockey Club held its Christmas meeting, and despite the fact that the influenza epidemic hud disorganised matters during the past few weeks, the attendance was easily a rcord, and the meeting proved an unqualified success. The weather was perfect, and the Citizens' Band, under the baton of Bandmaster F. W. G. McLeod, played excellent music, which added much to the enjoyment of the day. Amongst those present were: Mrs. •i. C. Nicholson (very pretty pale grey georgette [, <\vn, black crepe de chine hat, lined with saxe silk), Mrs. Percy Webster (cream lace robe, trimmed with pale blue, smart heliotrope hat lined wtili pale blue crepe de chine), Mrs H. Russell (black costume, black and white hat), Mrs. Percy Stainton (navy ! taffeta frock, black and white silk hat, trimmed with pansies), Miss B. King (saxe blue voile, blue and white bat to correspond). Miss Peach (white costume, tagel hat en suite), Mrs. S. Allen (very pretty mole-colored cTepe de cliine, with deep band of navy blue silk on skirt, vleux |oße hat), Mis? L. (Jreatbacli (heliotrope taffetas, with whjte crepe de chine blouse, black ®nd white hat), Miss Corkllt (cream costume hat to match), Mrs. Penn (grey taffetas embroidered In pink, grey crepe de chine hat, trimmed with pink roses), Miss E. Bayley (black end white striped'costume, black hat), Mrs. MeNaughton Christie (cream costume, with flue fclaclf stripe, Tuscan hat trimmed with pink foses), Mrs. E. Bayley (cream silk coat and Skirt., white tagel hat finished with osprevs), Mrs. Paget (cream costume, black hat). Miss Fox (pretty navy taffetas, black hat lined with pale blue silk), Mrs. T. Anderson (ereain silk costume, peacock blue hat), Mrs. E. Blundell (navy blue costume, hat relieved with pink roses), Mrs. A. lienncll (pale grey costume, purple and cerise hat), Mrs. Brewster (black and white check costume, black and white hat).
