YOUTH COMMITS SUICIDE.

Evidently an unreiju.ted attachment was the motive which led to the suicide ot Samuel Jaiaei Dyer, IS years of age (says the Chrisu-i'iurcii Sun." McCarthy coroner.

-Joseph Galbraith Dyer, the father of the deceased, said, that kia'sou was a laborer, and lived with him at Glantlovey Koad, fendalton- He had been ill in October last from influenza at Seargill, and had then returned to his home.

Myrtle McKay, domestic servant, said that she Lad kept company with the deceased for six months. She last saw liim about 11 p.m. on Friday, when lie met .her at the gate of the house at which she was employed. He then said lie had sent her a letter earlier in the day asking her to meet him between 8 and 8.30 p.m., and making certain other statements. She Had not kept the ap pointment. She had not encouraged the deceased in his attentions to her, and her mother had also objected- At. the Interview at the gate tii_e deceased asked her if she had burnt the letter, find she said she had. They walked to the corner, and he said that lie wanted to say good-bye. She asked if he was going away, and He replied' "Yee; I'm clearing out " She asked if his parents knew, and he said they would get a note in the morning. He made no reference then to taking his life, although he liad done so in the letter, His manner had certainly appeared strange at the earlier part of the interview although she had not thought that he was thinking seriously of committing suicide. Evidence as to finding the body about 8 o'clock o» Saturday morning was given by Wm. Herny Wilson, 56 ldris. Koa4. Witness Hvcd nljout fiO" yards away. He heard the report of a gun about 11.30 the previous evening.
