DISTRICT NEWS.

, WHAREROA. (From Our Own Correspondent.) On Tuesday evening a dance was held in the Whareroa Hall, when, as usual, there was a large assemblage. Mshiy visitors were present who had a thoroughly enjoyable time. Dancing was indulged in to music supplied by Mrs. Benton, while Mr. B. Bloor proved a first-class M.C. At 12 o'clock dancing was suspended for a while, and all heartily sang "Auld Lang Syne." A plentiful supper was provided by the ladies. Mr. E. Hicks (chairman) addressed all present, referring to the advent of peace and to the new year in appropriate ierms. Cheers were then given for the new year, the musician, and the M.C. Farmers all round have been very busy making hay and ensilage, with good results, °whiie there are some excellent crops to be seen.
