LEAGUE OF NATIONS. SCHEME ATTACKED BY REPUBH- ., CANS. New York, Dec. 30. Republican attacks on the theory of the League of Nations continue. Senator Heed condemns President Wilson's suggestion as a violation Of Washington's warning against entangling alliances. The League of Nations would mean the transfer to European Governcfcjnts of the powers of Congress. —Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assoc. Senator Reed added that America could never consent that even Britain or Franco should order the American armies to battle in Siberia, Italy, or other countries divided by history and aspirations from America. It was impossible ito allow them to influence America's destiny.
Mr Ta.fi pointed out that President Wilson had greater influence in Britain than British princes. As the result of President Wilson's influence, Mr Lloyd George and M. Clemenceau had now agreed to consider the League of Nations. Aid for Russia was necessary, especially an international military police force, which might properly be described as a spanking agency to bring that country to order-Aus.-N.Z. Cable iAsso6.
