THE GERMAN COLONIES. AMERICAN PRESS VIEWa j Received Dec. 29, S5 p:mLondon, Di»c. 27. Tme New York Herald, commenting on the disposition of the Gentian colonies, says it is certain the German colonies will not' be returned to Germany. The Union of South Africa defeated the Germans .in South-west Africa It was, therefore, ju§t* to consider South Africa's claims regarding the territory she conquered. Australasia can present similar claims regarding the former German possessions in the Pacific. It seems safe, as well as just, to leave the administration of those possessions in the hand of the thoroughly democratic Aus-tralians.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assoc-
