At the end of the day's play the position of the Taranaki rinks was as follows : In section "A": Scrivener (St. John's) leads with 5 wins, Spurdle being runrisrup with 4 wins and 1 loss, and Beal next with 3 wins and 2 losses. In section "B": Bromley (Gonville) leads with 5 wins, Smith being runnerup with 4 wins and 1 loss. In section "C": McNeill and Fraser (St. John's) were leading with 4 wins and 1 loss. In section "D": Parkes (St. Johns), Benefield (St. John's) and Abbott were all level with 1 loss, but the Fitzroy skip had played 4 games, the others having played 5. Foy (Hawera) had 1 win and 4 losses.

"The Scarlet Pimpernel," in his notes 011 the Wanganui tournament, writes in The Chronicle: I happened, on St. John's green yesterday, and saw some bowling of a high order. Smith, of Fitzroy, was doing valiantly. If "Stan" would get rid of his overwhelming desire to drive, and stick to the drawing game, he would do much better. He can draw like a Charlie Chaplin picture show when he tries. With apologies to our esteemed visitor.
