A SOLDIER'S LETTER. (From Our Own Correspondent.) Mr. Vf. -T. Mills, Eltham, lias received a letter from Sergeant Jack Mills, dated France, September 27, in which lie states they have been having a pretty stiff time of it lately, and were looking for a spell in England, shortly. Charlie Vickewi, Itfjdhirst, wa« still with him and all "[ (Sergeant Mills) have been in soine 'dirty coram' lately, and he (Vickprs) will "do me any part of the piece; lVe> one of the coolest and gamest eovos ]\i ( » ever ran across in action, and another' thing—lie's always liappy-go-lucky in his ways and never growls about anything, no 1 -matter what goes wrong. Young Vickers is' just the same over here as a.t home —always clean and tidy on parade, and the most popular chap in the section. A brother (Alex. Vickers) got ?. nasty about * com a German anti-tank gux. and is at present in Broekenlmrst Hospital, England." He mentions meeting another comrade —Billy Pointon—at the g«» school, and while there young Mills was promoted sergeant. He mentions that he had,-the good fortune to be left irr the reserve for a spell #|iile the rest of the f>oys were up in the I skint. Young Mills has been away aj considerable time, and has had a very | varied experience.
