INFLUENZA EPIDEMIC.
OUTBREAK AT OPUNAKE. The influenza has lately taken art unfavorable turn at Opunake, four deaths ' having occurred there during the past few days, whilst there are in the local temporary hospital several cases. All •• of the cases come from the country dis» tricts southward of the town, the districts on this side being quite clean. Mrs, ' Groom is in chargo, and receiving great* - help irom Father Doolaghty. More nursing help is wanted, and probably will 1 be despatched from New Plymouth to- 1 day. In view of the seriousness of the ' outbreak it is suggested that' the block inspecting system should ibe put into ' effect again, at any rate as far as the Eltham, Skeet, Main South and inter* secting roads are concerned. Otherwise prompt treatment will not be possible. ' Major Keenan, fortunately, is still in ■ the district, and is rendering splendid service,
