CENTRE OF NAVAL GRAVITY. WILL BE SHIFTED TO INDIAN OCEAN AND PACIFIC, Received Dec. 27, 7.35 p.m. London, Dec. 23.. The Daily Express' naval correspondent, discussing Lord Jellicoe's visit to Australia, says that many nav.V dents opine that the centre of ./ gravity during the next few years v.,.i swing to the Indian Ocean and southern Pacific. The immense potential wealth of India and Australasia must offer temptation to a predatory enemy, and must ibe defended. The policy of entrusting the Dominions with their own naval defence may get an Indian navy, officered and manned by Indians, and may see the growth in the next decade of au Imperial Admiralty, whereon will be representatives of each Dominion.—■ I Aiis. LORD JELLICOE'S OVERSEAS >' VISIT. THE PROBLEM OP DOMINION • NAVIES. ■ London, Dec. 26. Discussing Lord Jellicoe's visit overseas, The Times says that the' whole problem of Dominion navies is altered owing to the disappearance of the German navy. Lord Jellicoe's visit is necessary in order that the closest touch may be maintained between the Dominions and the Admiralty regarding future naval dispositions. MISSING STEAMER TURNS UP. New York, Dec. 26, The steamer Bryan Hilda lias arrived at Algoa Bay, after hope had Seen given up. It was believed the steamer N -had been sunk by a mine in September, when two days out from New York. A boat was found and a portion of the davits, evidently the result of an explosion.
