THE EMPIRE. EMILY STEVENS IN "A SLEEPING MEMORY." The Metro Company's tig seven reel super-feature, "The Sleeping Memory," commenced a three night season at the Empire last night. "A Sleeping Memory" is one of the most interesting production ever made. Wonderful Emily Stevens is the star in a story by tha celebrated author, E. Phillips Oppenheim. Poverty overtakes Eleanore Mars ton, a wealthy girl. She finds herself unable to continue the struggle for existence A young man interested in science offers lier every luxury if she will consent to having an experiment performed on her brain whereby all memory of her present life will vanish. She consents, and the experimenter .is 'horrified to find that in robbing her of her memory lie has also robbed her of her soul. His battle for her recovery, and then her love, *i_s told in one of the most absorbing dramas ever offered to screen patrons. "'A Sleeping Memory" shows again to-night and at both, sessions to-morrow.
EVERYBODY'S* J USE ELVIDGE AND CATTLYLE BLACIvWELL IN "THE WAY OUT " It is seldom that a picture has such a strong cast as the latest World drama, entitled; ''o,-he Way Out," now screening at Everybody's. The star part is taken by the ever-popular June Elvidge, and Carlvle Blackwell plays opposite her. In addition there ara Muriel Ostriehe, John Bowers and Jack Drumier Strange to say there is no real villain, though the unscrupulous mother causes quite as much trouble as any' villain could. The story tells of two lovers who. are "'patted, chiefly through .the mother's . machinations but partly through a misunderstanding. This is due to a bigamous marriage which : the girls . feather' had been guilty of and the consequent halfsister of whose existence tho girl was unaware. Tie result is'.that; she .marries another man while on a visit -to France and only discovers the/, wrong . she li.ad done her real lover when it is too. late. He: in the meantime had: followed liet to Paris and here occur somo tensely dramatic situations, which result m a duel.' The production is;first class and June lElvidge displays .that, lavish variety of ■dress for which she is so noted- The climax is finely arranged and thrilling. The second episode of Fatal King 1 " adds a further flash of brilliancy to the programme which shows finally to-night.
