CANTERBURY v. WELLINGTON. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, Dee. 25. The Canterbury-Wellington representative cricket match was commenced at Hagley Park in fine weather and on a good wicket. , Canterbury took first strike, but good bowling by Hiddleston and timid batting saw seveii wickets down for 94 runs. ,'At five o'clock the score was 103 runs for eight wickets. Christchurch, Last Night. The Canterbury-Wellington match was resumed to-day in beautiful weather. Canterbury's first innings closed for 167. Hiddlestone took 8 wickets for 59. Wellington in the first innings scored 28S (Hiddlestone 25, Lambert 51, Baker 33, Burton 32, McGirr 19, Price 18, Hutchings 18, Condlill'e 46). Patrick took 4 wickets for 42, and Mcßeth 3 for 71. The Wellington men gave a very solid display of batting At the close of the day's play Canterbury, in the second innings, had lost 7 wickets for 230 (Jones ..57 and Patrick 33)
AUSTRALIAN CRICKET NOBLE REAPPEARS AFTER A DECADE. Received Dec. 26, 10.55 p.m. Melbourne, Dec. 26. _ The first inter-state cricket ' match since the war is being played by New South Wales against Victoria Noble reappeared agains'; Victoria after ten years' absence from big cricket.
