WESTPORT TROTTING MEETING. Westport, Last Night. As the conditions, so far as iufluensa are concerned, have greatly improved at Denniston, it is the intention o£ the Westport Trotting Club, provided the sanction of the Chief Health Officer is obtained, to hold its race meeting on (Saturday, December 28.

T.J.C. CHRISTMAS MEETING. There is no need to remind Taranaki sports of the race meeting to be held here on Thursday, as it is a. matter that they have been looking forward to with interest that has increased daily since the decline of the epidemic permitted the Public Health Department to remove the restrictions that debarred the holding of meetings. Practically the whole of Taranaki will be represented at the gathering, and, in addition, there will bee a fair sprinkling of outsiders- The fields on Thursday are good, aud interesting racing should result. The principal event is tlie Christmas Handicap, of 250 sovs, one mile and a-quarter. Of the' 11 acceptors, Royal Park is an unlikely starter, and so is Gipsy Gem, whilst Hiero is not coming here. The field and ridera will probably be:— Rewi Poto, 9.1 (S H«nderson)~ ' Dingle, 8 2 (W. Price) Alteration, 8.0 (L. Nodde.r) Henry Clay, 7.9 (Johnson) Paddington Green, 7.0 (W, Ayres) Munster, 7.3 (McDouell) Winning Shot, C.9 (Hamilton) Perfect Day, 6.7 (Brown). In the Rahotu Hurdles, S. Henderson will have the mount on Veto, who deadheated with Collector for first position in the same event last year. L. Nodder will have a busy lime this meeting, having engagements in seven events. The Hawera horseman will ritle Hushman in the Flying. Jockeys 0. Hare and L. M. Randall, from Auckland, have engagements at the meeting here on Thursday.
