NEW ZEALAND SHIPPING.
THE SEAMEN'S ATTITUDE. Sydney, Dec. 20. It is stated that the esamen's attitude regarding New Zealand shipping is that tho men offered to go at ordinary wages if the owners would provide for their wives and families if the men contracted influenza. The owners declined, on the ground that it would pay them better tc lay the vessels up. The men then offered to take the risk if paid £1 petday.—Aus. N.Z. Cable Assoc. Wellington, Dec. 20. With reference to the manning of the Moeraki and. Manuka at Sydney, Mr. Voting, general secretary of the federated Seamen's Union, has received a cablegram from the secretary of the N T ew South Wales branch to the effect that a meeting of members on Monday night last passed a resolution that they would man the Moeraki and Manuka on conditions acceptable to the branch, namely, that livimr quarters be given the crew on deck. The central executive of the New Zealand organisation resolved that the action of the Sydney branch be endorsed, as being in conformity ith wtlie demand made by the New Zealand Union for the past twenty vears.
