RETURNING GENERALS. TO LUNCH WITII THE KING. London, Dec. 17. Sir Douglas Haig and the leading generals will arrive in London on Thursday, and will drive by an extended route to the Palace for lunch. Thursday was selected instead of Friday to enable the Premier to participate in the welcome before proceeding to Paris. GENERAL ELECTION. CABINET CHANGES FORECASTED London, Dec. 17. Newspapers anticipate a number of early Cabinet changes. It is reported that a new reconstruction Cabinet, consisting of about a dozen, will shortly' supersede the War Cabinet. AUSTRALIAN LIGHT HORSE. DESTRUCTION 1, OP IHEIR MOUNTS. PATHETIC SCENES. Deceived Dec. 19, 7.30 p.m. Txindon, Dec. 17 (via America). Owing to the cost and difficulty of transportation, it has been decided to destroy the Australian Light Howe horses over twelve years of age, and to dispose of the remainder locally. The decision has occasioned pathetic" scene?. The men, dreading their favorites passing into slavery, are shooting manv, finding various excuses, insisting they are over age or arrangin? that they meet with accidents. One brigade shot seven hundred horses in one niglit. There is a hope that the best animals will be taken to Central Europe.— Reuter.
