J. D. Murray (Stratford); SD.C.R, Bro. R. H. Geddes (Inglewood); D.W., Bro. H. Ward (New 1 lymouth); D.8., Bro. J. Andrews (New Plymouth). An apology for non-attend-ance illness was received from the District Secretary, Bro. A. J. Tunbridge. There was a good attendance ox local members. District officers were welcomed l>y the Court, and District Treasurer Bro. Lattley presided for the remainder of the evening. _ T wo members were initiated into the Court, a,nd one proposal accepted for membership. The following officers were eleoted for' the next term; C.R., Bro. J. Uncles; S.C.R., Bro. Martin; S.W.. Bro L Brown; J.W., Bro. A. Leech; 5.8., Bro R. Crossman; J. 8., Bro. W. Day; secretary, Bro. R. H. Geddes; treasurer, Bro R. Fawcett. Bros. Winter and Surrey were elected' delegates to the' half-yearly meeting, to held at New Plymouth in February. D.T. Bro. Cattley, on behalf ot the district, expressed regret at the loss Inglewood Court had sustained in the dejith of the late Bro. Coldwell, who had been secretary of the local Court for a good number of years, also a district officer and eleoted in the subsidiary Court. D.B. Bro. J. Andrews expressed the sympathy of Eltham and South Taranaki Courts at Bro. Coldwell's death. The late Bro. Coldwell had always taken a keen interest in the Eltham Court, and the members there desired to place on record their appreciation of his services on "their .behalf. D.C.R. Bro. J. D. Murray placed on record his regret at Inglewood having lost a faithful worker for the Court. He hod been elected to succeed Bro. C. J. Tunbridge as a Subsidiary High [Court Treasurer, and they all recognised fcis_ worth and sympathised with the relatives in their loss, Considerable discussion ensued on the question of Court payments for side dues in connection with the recent epidemic. The rules provide for sick pay only in cases where certified to by the Court doctor. This was found too drastic, in that several doctors were down at the same time, and also that many members were securing assistance from other doctors, and the latter could not very well give the exact time of a membar declaring on the sick pay. , P.D.C.R. Bro. Murray stated the same position had arisen in Stratford, and they h4d got over the difficulty by-mak-ing a member secure a certificate from some reputable citizen, whether member or otherwise, to declare the date when the sickness was incurred. In any case, he thought they could trust the honesty of - members not to declare one day longer than they were entitled to. Some members thought it desirable that any length of sickness should be declared by two. brothers, but it was pointed out that a member may b® out of the district, in another town or the back-blocks, and it would thus be very difficult to get a signature on those lines, and a motion in that direction was withdrawn. Bro. Winfield suggested that the Court did not know how it stood regarding the financial position, and thought the better plan was to set up ft committee to ascertain what the obligations were and then the Court could see how they stood. This eventually was carried and almost immediately rescinded. Another member suggested that" the employers should be able to give information as to how their employees fared and how long they were away. This idea was also thrown, out, and claims will be considered on certificates signed by two persons.
