HYDRO-ELECTRIC POWER.
ACTION BY MOA ROAD BOARD. The Moa Road Board has taken the preliminary step in the direction of taking advantage of the Bill recently passed by Parliament to enable local bodies to develop for the production of electricity water-power in their districts. At the meeting of the board, on Saturday, Mr. E. J. H. Lyon brought up the matter, and said that the time was oportune to forestall the large and more distant bodies, even though the 'board might, not at the present time want to use the power. He moved that the clerk obtain a copy of the Hydro-Electric Act, 1018, and, on receipt of It, make application under its terms for the hydroelectric rights and the Manganui River at a point immediately below its junction with the Xgatoro Kiver. Mr. Lyon said the motion committed the board t6 no expenditure but, on the carrying of the Inglewond Countv Bill, would give thera a source of supply for electricity, which would be ;i great asset to the county. Mr. J. B. Simpson seconded the motion.
