A sign of the new times is in the calling of tenders for the roofing' iron of some of the hutments and other materials at the military camps. Portions of Trentham and Featherston camps are be. ing dismantled, but sufficient of the buildings will be left for other purposes of the Defence Department. APPOINTMENTS TO REPATRIATION BOARD. The Ministerial Board of Repatriation has met since Parliament rose, and has been considering the question of appointments. Signs point to the' selection of Mr. J. R. Samson as Director of Repatriation. Mr. Samson is an officer in chargo of the Discharged Soldiers' Information _ Department. The "returned Soldiers' Association is protesting against making the appointments with, oui inviting applications byjjdvertiaanient in the press. PROTESTS AGAINST HASTY LEGISLATION. Already the crop of hasty legislation ia raising protests. The first to: come under notico is regarding the arbitrary restriction of picture show hours by the Public Health Amendment Act.
