NEW PLYMOUTH DEFEATS fitzroy. Tlie first match of the season in connecwon with the banner competition was played on the Fitzroy Green yesterday, when New Plymouth scored a very decisive victory by 41 points. The green was playing well, (but the wind beiuy tricky made accuracy difficult. There Was, however, some very good play, Pontes' large 'score being attributable tnainly to Jackson's very successful displacing tactics.
