CLEAN-UP DAY.
TO-DAY'S EFFORT. ' ' In spite of the big attempt made last, yenr to rid householders and business people of the accumulation of rubbish ill their backyards, yesterday's collection in the (business area of the borough brought to light a surprising quantity of similar refuse to that takon away last, December. The chief surprise m connection with yesterday's work was that Devon Street central contributed practically nothing to the collection, and the several loads that were taken away came principally from t.h'.i block immediately eastward nf the central block.. To day the outer area of the borough will he dealt with and residents nr» nsfod to have all the rubbish they wish taken away, placpd out on the edge of the footpath by 7.30 this morning. Anythin?! hut. garden refuse will he taken. The opportunity, thus given by the borough authorities deprives resident's ot eypry excuse for accumulations nf rubbish on their premises, and it would not be surprising if, after this effort, those who have neglected the chance, were compelled _to remove their rubbish immediately at t.heilr own expense.
