DRIVERS' DISPUTE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Dunedin, Dee. 12. At a meeting of the Otago Motor and Horse Xvims* Union, a m jtiou was carried to the effect that the offer submitted by the employers to /epvesenutives in Wellington of the Drivers' Union for a settlement of the dispute was most unreasonable, unsatisfactory, iuid 1101 worthy of further consideration, therefore it was unanimously rejected. FOXTON PICTUM THEATRE BURNED. Foxton, Dee. 12. Shortly before S o'clock this morning fire destroyed Hamer's picture theatre, Admore's (painter and paperbanger) shop, dwelling and contents, Longney's billiard saloon (owned by Hamef), an unoccupied cottage of which Hamer was the owner, and a storage shed and contents to the rear of Oxley's grocery store. The fire started in the picture theatre, which has been closed during the epidemic. The origin of the Are 1* a mystery. A block of wooden shops adjacent in the main street narrowly escaped Efforts made to check the conflagration were of little avail, as the town is with, out a water supply and has no fire brigade. The insurances and losses are not obtainable.
