A SEWER TRAGEDY.
THREE MEN LOSE THEIR LIVES. Received Dec. 12, 7.35 p.m. Melbourne, Dec. 12, A sudden inrush of gas in a sewer at Richmond overcame a workman named Swannage and a companion named Aldridge. Passers-by named Quinn, Grif* ftths and Mills successfully went to theif assistance, but all collapsed. Eventually firemen with gas helmets arrived. Swannage, Aldridge and Quinn were found dead, and the other two were rescued in a serious condition.—Aus. and N.Z. Cable Assoc.
