BOROUGH "CLEAN UP."
j ANOTHER EFFORT. The New Plymouth Borough Council is determined'to give residents every opportunity of getting rid of their accumulations of rubbish, and has authorised the sanitary inspector to have another "cleanlip" effort similar to that made last year. This year it is hoped to complete the work in two days, and Thursday and Friday of this week have been set apart for the work. Every kind of rubbish (other than garden refuse) will be taken away. Owners of motor garages and othc-r premises having very large quantities of bulky rubbish are requested to make special arrangements with the inspector. The business area of the town will be dealt with on Thursday, including that portion of the borough between Courtenay Street and the sea and between Robe Street and Liardet Street, and also Devon Street from Gover Street to Liardet Street. All rubbish is to be placed on the outer edge of the footpath before 12 noon. On Friday the rernaining portion of the borough will be dealt with. All rubbish must be placed on the outer edge of the footpath before 7.30 a.m. Residents are asked to get the rubbish out to their gates before the day of collection and place it in the street in the morning. There can be no excuse for dirt/ or untidy back-yards in a borough where such opportunities are provided of disposing of accumulations of rubbish. When the authorities offer to cart anything away, the least residents can do, for their own sake, and for the good name of the community, is to place the rubbish out for the-carters to-pick up and take away.
