THE GERMAN ARMY. A SHOW OF DEMOBILISINa Received Dec 10, 12.30 a.m Paris, Dec. 8. Le Matin draws attention to the fact that the German army has not yet been reduced to a peace footing. While the Germans make a show of demobilising they may, in reality, be engaged in regrouping their forces. It is the victor's business to fix the enemy's military establishment during the peace negotiations. The Minister for Public Works reports that eight hundred bridges in the invaded area require to be rebuilt; that 120 sluices have been destroyed, and 8125 miles of rails need to be replaced. He complains of the unparalleled dilatoriness of the enemy in handing over wagons and locomotives.— Aus. N.Z. Cable Assoc, and Reuter. ADVANCE OF THE BELGIANS. Received Dec 9, 7.30 p.m. London, Dec. 8. A Belgian communique states that a cavalry division has reached the Rhine and occupied Neuss and Crefeld. The infantry reached the lino Washenberg, Baal, Jackeraeh.—Aus. N.Z. Cable Assoc. and Keuter.
