PURCHASE OF FROZEN MEAT.
STATEMENT BY THE.PREMIER. By Telegraph.—jSpeoial Correspondent. Wellington, Bee. 7. In. the House this afternoon, Mr. G. V. Pearce (Patea) asked if the Prime Minister had any information regarding the intentions of tho Imperial Govern-' ment in the purchase of New Zealand meat. The producers would like to have definite information on the point. The Prime Minister said he had cabled to London several times asking that the matter should be dealt v/itli and the country told exactly what was proposed to be done. He still hoped that arra.ngemnets would be made to extend the meat' purchase scheme for another full year. He thought that would be done, but he could not 'be obsolutelv certain until he received a reply from London. Mr. Massey added that he had cabled wging the High Commissioner to expedite the arrangement, and as soon as definite information arrived it wotrtd 'be made public; for ihe information of producers throughout K'bw Zealand.
