RETROSPECTIVE ALLOWANCES.
FOR VOLUNTEER MARRIED ' MEN, REQUEST FOR EVEN-HANDED JUSTICE. By Telegraph.—Special Correspondent. Wellington, Last Xiaht. A deputation from the Returned Soldiers' Association conferred with members of Parliament this morning regarding a request that retrospective allowances be paid to the early married volunteers, to place them on the s&me footing financially as the later recruits. The deputation's speakers had a favorably hearing. One of the delegates, referring to tho gratuity sc-heme of the Expeditionary Forces Amendment Bill, asked the 'Minister whether even-handed justice would be done first to the early volunteers before the benefits were given to those who had already enjoyed the advantage of the later improved scales.
Sir James Allen replied that he wouk) place the matter before Cabinet.
