MONTHLY MEETJffI 1 Tho-,montkly meeting of the-Clifton, County Council was held, at Wailara* yesterday. lu tho absence' of the! chairman (Cr. Pigott), Cr. ,S. J. Ken-, nimjton was voted to the chair. There: were also present: Cr.s. T. MeKenzie, 11. A. Foreman, C. Musker and .If. Sander. ENGINEER'S REPORT. The engineer (Mr. C. p. ®ow3ett) reported »>s follows: Wuihi Riding.—Arrangements have been made to gravel a portion of the' Main North Road from the Onaero bridge southwards. A further 3(30 yards will be deposited at the Turangi depot, and'" 800 yards at the Waipapa depot, if a* satisfactory price can be obtained. To complete the desu-ed g&p on theOhanga Road with gravel will cost a further £lls, exclusive of earthwork, spreading,, etc. The town wafe supply will shortly be available at the toll-gate- The connection would cost about £l, with an annual fee to bo decided by the Borough Council, should th!s council decide to make use of it. The settlers were interviewed in connection with forming lip and grading the Turangi Road, and I will report later. Tikorangi Fading.—Ee-surfaceing: The Bertrand Road has been ■ receiving further attention, and another week will complete it. Levels were taken to regrade Jury's Hill on the Waihi Road, which will require the removal of about 200 yards of earth. This, I understand, will be carried out gratis by the settlers, and tenders close to-day for supplying the necessary metal. The other metalling contracts are in abeyance at -present. It is expected tho suspension bridge will shortly be attended to. No labor is at present available to form up tlis Otaraoa Road.

Xgatimaru Riding—Work on the Pnrangi bridge lias been more or less suspended during the month. The roadman at Tarata has been attending to various requirements! in his district, and reports that suitable gravel Las boon found on secion <!, block 111., Huiroa S.D.. and that assistance can probably be obtained to quarry it. I will report mora fully at next meeting. The vacancy at Piirangi is still open for a suitable man. The Mangaoapa bridge plans, having now been approved, tenders will be called to close at tho next meeting, and a's soon as tho loan money is available I will proceed to put the other work in hand.

Uremii Biding.—Repairs to the Onaero bridge have been satisfactorily completed. Sections on the Main Road, between tho 19 and 22 mile pegs, have been scarified, broken over, and rolled in again. A portion of the gravel in the Okoke pit has been carted out and tipped for repairs, and arrangements mado to continue tho supplies with the present contractor. The following bridges were examined and the estimated cost of repairs are:-—TJrenui, £l3; Mimi fifcikearuhe Road), £25; Marsh (Okoke Road), mr,. This structure wants more extensive attention, but in view of money being in hand for new works I am withholding further proposals at present.

Tbo flood opening between the 32 and 33-mile pegs has been stripped, and the road filled up solid and metalled, and also the pipe in substitution thereof has boon placed in Position, and this work also completed.
