MORE ABOUT THE MAKURA.
ACTION of waterside workers. By Telegraph.-—Press Association, Auckland, Last Xight. After the call was made this morning for waterside workers to coal the .Makura at Motuihi, anil Qib men had been sent to handle the stores, a stop-work meeting was held, when 700 passed a resolution protesting against the action of the Premier in suggesting, or consent' ing to, th<: coaling of the vessel during quarantine, on the ground that the return of the.men from Motuihi, without isolation, would probably lead to the reintroduction of the scourge into the city. It was also resolved not to work the Makura until she is declared a clean ship and is berthed alongside the wharf, and until satisfactory terms and conditions and the period o£ isolation are arranged for. It was decided to hold to the former resolution to cease work at 5 p.m till Auckland is declared a clean city. When the call was made for coal workers only four were offering.
