'Wellington, Dee- 3. A deputation of members of Parliament interviewed the Hon. W. H. Herries to support the demands of tlie Locomotive Eijgiiie-driver.v; Firemen, and Cleaners' Society for increased wages :md improved working conditions. Tlie Minister said he could not deal with the grievance of one society without considering others; also an amendment of the schedule of wages could not be made except by Act of Parliament and in consultation with all railway societies, fiailway servants had been: better treated than tiio Civil Service. He would b-2 quite prepared next session, when the bonus would have run oyt, to put before the House an amendment to the wages schedule. He hoped to meet the societies after Christmas.
