POLITICAL NOTES.

P.TTATP.IATION.

Among the Bills roon to arrive is the Repatric.tion Bill, which will set up the machinery for dealing with the problem of getting our returning soldiers back into civilian life again. Then is ..othing very wonderful about the proposals in the Bill, and most of them have been forecasted already in statements that have been made by Ministere. There ia to be a Repatriation Board, to consist of four Ministers, v/ith Sir James Allen a3 chairman, The other members are to be the Hons. Mr Guthrie, Mr Mac Donald, and Mr Ho-nan. The Minister will retain full control of soldiers while they remain soldiers, w> that in effect lie will h&ve raott to do with tue repatriation business. There is io ba a Director of Repatriation, and it ia believed that ho will be Mr J. K. Samson, at preoent head of the Discharged Soldiers' laformaticii Department. Provision will be made also fcr the setting tip of district committee.-;, with district officers. A number of big public works, which will I>3 commenced fts soon as the men begin to come back, will absorb numbers of the. men who find themselves unattached, and the repatriation organisation schema will keep some sort of touch with lue Public Works Department in regard to such matters, as the employment of men on these works.
