CHINAMAN FINED £25.
CASE TO BE.RE-HEARD.
By Telegraph.—Press Association. , t ~ , Napier, Last Night. At the Magistrate's Court this morn- • ins, before Mr. R. W. Dyer, S.M., a Chinaman named Yen Kee, of Napier, was fined £25 and costs (£1 Ts) for unlawfully charging an excessive price for oranges. On a second charge of a ■ similar nature he was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence when . called upon. Mr. Dyer Te-opened the case in the ' afternoon, this course being necessary owing to the point having been raised as to the question of jurisdiction. The legal procedure is complicated, owing to ' the operation of the Trade and Com- . mcrca Act, and the Magistrate believed that jurisdiction might belong' to the Supreme Court. The case will be again. heard on Thursday by the Magistrate. \"
