WAITARA.

(From Our Own Correspondent). November 28. Though there are not many fresh cases to report in the borough itself, the epidemic is still raging fiercely in tho neighboring districts. Only four fresh cases were reported here on Thursday, but a little way out of Waitara 17 fresh cases in one pa were discovered, most of them serious.

At a meeting on Thursday, at which representatives from New Plymouth were present, it wa3 decided to use the public school a.s a convalescent hospital, the present buildings, St. John's and Forresters' Hall being quite inadequate to take in the serious cases from outside the borough and keep them until they are in a fit state to go to heir homes It was agreed that Waitara should deal with cases north of Waitara and that Now Plymouth would treat all cases between Waitara and New Plymouth. The town has lost an old resident in the person of Mr. A. Loveridge ("Sam"), who died on Tuesday last in the New Plymouth hospital at the age- of 37 rears. He was a. footballer of repute, having donned the Jersey for Taranaki on more than one occasion, and he will be much missed by his mates both at ! work and play. Mrs. Loreridge and family will have the sympathy of a !?.r?e number of friends. Miss NoTali Sullivan, who has been in Waitara for a number of y.'ars. has also pr.ssed s.ffiv. While here she has made many Wends through her unfailing courtesv and sterling inte?rity of character. She will not soon be forgotten, and will leave a vacancy in tho social I'fn of the town which will be hard to fill.

Ano f her old resident in the person of Mr M. P:iltri(l"e has Mien a victim to inPiif-nza. He died on Tuesdav, aged 42 years His family have the sincere sympathy of all of us.
