ABNORMAL SOLAR UPHEAVAL.
MR. WRAGGI-.'S REPORT.
By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Nov. 2C.
"Probably centuries have elapsed since the sun displayed sueli remarkable activity as has been the case recently," writes Mr. Clement Wragge. "At present there is a mightly solar upheaval, quite abnormal, seeing that the beginning of the minimum period of activity should now be evolving. The existing sun, observed at 5.45 this morning, has one enormous nucleus about aO.OOcTmiles in diameter, with a long trail of boiliing. seething maelstrom exceeding MMKii) miles in length, and the whole disturbed area is, by solar rotation, approaching the centre of the disc. It is impossible to resist the conclusion that, seeing that suns, planets, and solar systems are interlinked by wireless wave lengths oi ether throughout the fathomless depths of the Endless T T iiiverse with the Infinite Dynamo operating to stupendous whole, our sun is being affected by extraneous cosmic factors of which mankind, in our day, knows next to nothing. Probably our next nearest sun. Alpha Centauri (a magnificent double sun. and the brightest of the 'pointers' to the Southern Cross), is the operating factor in the production of the solar slorms. which, in their turn affect the earth and the entire solar svstem. It is a tremendous conclusion, hut one that is entirely feasible, seeing that, although. Alpha Centauri is distant 25 000.000,000.000 miles, the ether vibration, or musical notes from it, reach our sun in four and one-third years, travelling at IPO 001 mile--, per second. One must remember that there is no such thine, scientifically, as isolation: that evervlhing is linked un bv wireless, ad infinitum; that the great laws of cause and effect are ever operating; that everything is part and parcel of everything else. The present miglitv sun storms can be seen with the aid of smoked glass. One may reasonablv expect to hear of seismic, magnetic, and meteorological disturbances."
