NEW ZEALAND'S CONTRIBUTIONS.

A HANDSOME TOTAL.

Wellington, Last Night. The Budget states that the amounts contributed through the Government by the people of the Dominion to the various relief funds are as follow:

The above figures do not represent the total contributions from the Dominion, as tlie value in cash and goods contributed by private individuals or institutions and forwarded direct is not ascertainable.

The total amount raised by patriotic societies in the Dominion since the outbreak of war to the 31st March, 1918, reached £3,808,221, of which £1,695,760 remained in the hands of societies. This latter sum was invested principally in connection with relief for sick and wounded soldiers and thoir dependants, .-tie demands on which will increase rapidly with the return of the men now on active service.

The estimated value of goods, stock, produce, and comforts shipped overseas by the Internal Affairs Department on behalf of donors to the 31st M&rel>, K>iß, amounted to £. r >02,181.
