SFA'EN DEATHS AT THE CAMBS.
By Telegraph.—Prear. Association. Wellington, Last Night. Reports from camp to-day show that tfcere wore iivo deaths at Trentham, one at Featherstau, and one at Awapuni. In twenty-four Hours there ..vere thirty deaths in tiio eight temporary hospitals in Wellington city yesterday, The Minister of Health slats that tlhe reports of the improvement of the position in Wellington are maintained.
Mayor Lidie states there is a big improvement, and tlie hospital admissions dropped by one half.

Dr. Dunn, who is the only doetor practising at Westport at the present time, Dr. llonson being a patient in the hospital and Dr. Foote on military service, reports no fr°,sh cases of influenza to-day requiring medical attendance. Altogether about 150 houses arc 'aiiected, hut the deaths in Westport and the suitwunding districts total only six, the iatest being Mrs. Douglas Bobson, wife of the ex-town clerk and ensrineer.

OTAGO'S FIGURES.
Dunedin, Nov. 23-
Tlie notification of influenza cases in Otago and Southland to-day were BS, against 51 yesterday. The cases taken to the hospital, are 130, against 210 yesterday.
Oacedin, Last Night. A.quieter tone is apparent to-day, and Vfle situation is not any worse. There were 24 cases discharged completely jured, and a large number of discharges may be looked for daily- There were 34 admissions to the general hospital today, practically all pneumonia. The old nursing staff are all laid up, and out of five house surgeons four are ill, their places being filled by two senior atudent?.
GREAT IMPROVEMENT AT AUCKLAND.
Auckland, Last Night.
The position is so improved that Dr, f'rengley announces that the hairdressers, marble bars, anH refreshment rooms in the city and suburbs are to Jbe allowed to resume business to-morrow Should the improvement continue as during the last few days, it is anticipated that another week at most will see the remainder of the restrictions removed. Deaths in the institutions for the ii hours ended at midnight on Saturday iotallled nine, with only two or three since up to five o'clock. Absentees from the Postal and Telegraph Department humher 88, mostly convalescent, against 110 last week, and mil deliveries are resuming. Easier conditions exist on tie railway and tramways, atfd, a few suburban trains are resuming.

Volunteer nurses and other helpers are doing splendid work. .The Town Board, with the willing assistance of residents, is arranging for hospital visitation of homes, inhalation chamber, and cleaning up and disinfecting. A certificated nurse is most urgently needed, *ia the volunteers are breaking down under the strain.

Three deaths from influenza were reported yesterday, including that of Sergeant-Major Thomas Atkins, who won tiie D.C.M. at Gallipoli, and since his return has been in charge of the Defence Office ihere, proving a most efficient officer. He leaves a wife and young child.
IMPROVEMENT AT GREYMOUTH.
Greymouth, Nov. 23
There are excellent reports to-day, and no deaths. The hospital cases show considerable improvement. There are no serious cases in the Otira line. The shops (have re-opened.
CORNER TURNED AT WANGANUT.
Wanganui, Nov. 23,
The influenza situation appears easier and it is believed that the comer has been turned. A number of cases arc still coming in, but they are not of a serious nature.
IN ELTHAM
The statistics of. the hospital up to Saturday were: Total cases lti, comprising 5 from Eltkam town, 6 from Eltiain county, and 5 from Stratford county. The comparative lightness of tSie attacks in the town of Elthajn was noteworthy, and expert opinion seemed inclined u> attribute this to the generally dlean ami sanitary. condition of the borousii and tli3 existence of tarred streets. The favorable conditions here, however, made it all the more incumbent upon us to render all the help v.e could in the surrounding districts., This had been recognised by the Hospital Board, and, by arrangement with the Stratford. Hospital Board, case?, had been taken into the Eltham temporary hospital from the southern portion of the Stratford district.
Mr. K. H. Boyle, manager of the Elthatn Dairy Company, states that thirty of the stall' are down, but all are doing well. The Mayor reports on Saturday morning thut the information received seems to indicate a development of the trouble in and about town, and emphasise? very strongly the urgent necessity for all who are able to help to come forward in order to avoid a breakdown iu the present nursing staff. Nineteen cases have, been I admitted to the hospital and there have been two deaths.—Argus.
AVOID DRAUGHTS
The beneficial effect of fresh air 'Mas been emphasised during the campaign, but according to a Wanganui doctor there is a danger of running to (xtremes. There is a difference between allowing a patient fresh air and permitting him to be in a draught. ''A draught, is a good thing for a Stealthy person," said the doctor, "but for an influenza ease it is fatal. Patients should be carefully protected from .draughts." \
