PROVISIONS FORESHADOWED,
IMPORTANT DEVELOEMENT
SCHEMES
(By Wire—Own Correspondent) Wellington, Nov. 23. The special Budsrei will be presented to the House on Tuesday. Although an increase in taxation is not necessary, the Budget is regarded as a very important one. It shows approximately wliat tite war has cost the Dominion, and foreshadows development schemes considered necessary to enable the country to shoulder the enormously increased public debt. The Bnrplus is not as large as last year's.
It is understood an important proposal for the development of: hydraulic power is included, also other public works which are to be undertaken in connection with the repatriatioa scheme. The Licensing Bill is expected to appear early next week. There are reports that the prohibitionists are by no means pleased with the Bill, which <ihey consider far too big and burdened with too ma»y controversial details.
