FIRE IN A HOSPITAL.
GOT'UNDER IN TIME; By Telegraph.—Press Association. Hokitika, Nov. 22., An incipient fire was discovered at the Mansion Ward of the Westland Hospital last night. A heavy gale was blowing at the time. The institution was crowded with patients, mostly" epidemic cases. Some members of the female staff, with the assistance of two visitors, got out the fire hose and succeeded in suppressing the outbreak,, which was confined to the roof, the felting under the iron tailing fire, presumably from' a spark from thji adjacent chimney. The Fire Brigade were called out, Ibut iheif" services were not fEfpfffed. The damage was not serious. It was unnecessary to disturb the patients- Considerable alarm prevailed in town till it was known the danger was pStsed.
