ACCIDENTS TO MOTOR CARS.
To the Editor. , Sir,—ln your issue of Mondav ; A the local news column you mention'an accident to a motor car in which several people were severely injured. The News' item says- "A car driven bv Mr J. AfeCarty came to grief on the road to Kaupokonui, owing to a tire blowing ouV What I should like to know, Sir, Is this, Is a car bound to "come to grief" whenever a tire blows out? Perhaps some motor expert could enlighten me- I have .ridden .1 bicycle for many year.? and have occasionally had a "blow-out," but the worst that has happened has been that I have been down on the rim. Why have I not been thrown into the river, or over into the adjoining paddock? I now sometimes drive a car. Shall Ibe here to tell lie tale.if I happen to have a "blow-out?" Is it not a fact that m most cases only a part ( i \ery i;mall part) of [he story 3 told when it ; r, ssid that Mr So and So came to g:.->f wing to a tire blowing out? I am certain that there must be many people whow ould like to know why a car turns apsidc down from what appeal's so tmall a cause.—l am, etc-, C. STRAXD. Opuna'i-'e, 'l9lh November.
