HOUSE ADJOURNS FOR A- WEEK. ; Wellington, Last. Nigiiit. .TBe House met at 2.30. He Premier moved the (usual motion •■of condolence with the relatives of the late David Buick (P&lmerston North). 'Ehe motion, which was passed, was supported by Sir Joseph Ward, Messrs Hunger, FielJ (Otaki), and Wilford, all of Whom eulogised the late member. In moving adjournment for a week, the Premier said it '.vas impossible to go on with the business till the influenza epidemic was spent. He was glad to Bay the reports were encouraging, but as otlhcr gatherings were prohibited they ought to be consistent and close down Parliament.
Sir Joseph Ward said that as eighteen members were stricken it would be unfair to go on. He, therefore, supported the course suggested by the Premier. The House adjourned till eleven o'clock on Tuesday next.
